Jungle Bird
Created in the 1970s at the Aviary Bar in the Hilton Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, the Jungle Bird combines the refreshment of pineapple and lime juice with dark rum and the herbal bitterness of Campari. It’s an unusual combination in Tiki drinks, where Campari is an uncommon ingredient, but the mashup absolutely slaps. Fortunately for those of us who aren’t drinking alcohol today, or are cutting back, this cocktail makes a great non-alcoholic offering as well.
There are loads of great non-alc bitter red liqueurs available today and plenty of rum options. Lyre's Italian Orange and Dark Cane Spirit will both work well, or if you're looking for something a little more unique, try Wilderton's Bittersweet Aperitivo. We've added a couple of dashes of our New Orleans bitters here for a little extra fruit and spice.
