Company Info
Where are your products made?
We make and distribute our products by hand in Chico, California. One of our founders is from Chico, and the other went to school at CSU Chico. After spending some amazing time in the Napa Valley working in fine dining and wine, we came back here to raise our family.
Do you take wholesale orders?
We sure do! Check out our wholesale page for more information.
What exactly does it mean to be "small batch"?
"Small batch" is a term that's often tossed around casually, but we really mean it. Our tight-knit team of friends and family hand-peels oranges, dices figs, grinds spices, and drives 30 minutes down the road to pick up lavender from a local ranch for every batch we make. It’s a slow, three-month process to produce our cocktail bitters—and we like it that way.
Can my substance abuse or environmental organization be included in your annual donations?
We'd love to consider it! As part of our annual charitable giving we donate 1% of total sales to environmental organizations and 2% of total sales to substance abuse and recovery programs. If you would like to be considered for our donations, please don't hesitate to reach out via our contact form or directly at info@allthebitter.com.
Product Info
Are your bitters really 100% alcohol-free?
Yes! Our bitters don’t see a drop of alcohol—ever. Traditionally bitters are made with high-proof alcohol, but we use non-GMO vegetable glycerin to extract flavor from our organic botanicals. We don’t use flavor extracts either, which are typically alcohol-based (think vanilla extract). In fact, we add nothing to our bitters besides raw herbs, roots, spices, flowers, fruits, and a splash of apple cider vinegar for balance. Everything in the bottle is 0.0% alcohol, always.
Are your bitters okay to use when pregnant or breastfeeding?
As with any herbal product we recommend you check with your doctor before incorporating All The Bitter into your pregnancy or breast feeding routine.
Is All The Bitter Okay To use In Recovery?
We think so—because they are 0.0% alcohol—but that’s entirely up to you. Recovery is deeply personal, and everyone has their own boundaries and triggers. Some people consider non-alcoholic cocktails a slippery slope, while others have successfully incorporated them into their recovery and find they help support long-term sobriety. If non-alcoholic cocktails aren’t part of your plan, All The Bitter can also be used to flavor sparkling water, tea, juice, or coffee.
If regular bitters add very little alcohol, why use alcohol-free bitters?
Some people aren’t concerned about the small amount of alcohol in traditional bitters—but others are. Alcohol-free bitters are a clear, worry-free option for anyone avoiding alcohol entirely, whether for health reasons, pregnancy, religion, recovery, or personal preference.
There’s also a practical side: once you use more than a couple dashes of traditional bitters, or make a smaller, spirit-forward drink, the alcohol adds up faster than most people realize (there's a good explanation of the math here). Alcohol-free bitters let you build flavor freely without doing ABV math or second-guessing whether a drink is truly non-alcoholic. This is especially important if you're serving mocktails in a bar, and don't know whether your guest is comfortable with alcoholic bitters. Chances are, if they're ordering an alcohol-free drink, they expect it to be alcohol-free.
Do your bitters need to be refrigerated?
Our bitters are shelf stable, although they should be kept in a cool, dark place to retain freshness.
How long will your bitters last on the shelf?
For maximum flavor and freshness we recommend enjoying All The Bitter within 24 months of the date of manufacture. You'll find a "best by" date on the bottom or back label of every bottle.
Recipes and Usage
Can your alcohol-free bitters be used in place of regular bitters—and in alcoholic cocktails too?
Yes. Use our bitters 1:1 anywhere regular bitters are called for—alcoholic or non-alcoholic. And in NA drinks, don’t be shy: you can use more to build flavor without affecting ABV.
How much is a "dash," and how do I measure correctly with a dropper?
A dash is roughly 0.75–1 mL, depending on who you ask. When using our bottles with a dropper top, treat one full dropper (one squeeze of the bulb) as one dash. Our droppers are marked with mL measurements if you want to be precise.
If you’re using a bottle with a dasher cap, invert the bottle over your drink and give it a firm, straight-down shake. Each shake equals one dash. You can see an example of dashing in this video.
How much bitters should I be using in seltzer water? Cocktails?
Cocktail recipes generally call for 2-3 dashes (somewhere between 1.5 and 2.5 mL), which is the serving size on our bottle. If you're making bitters & soda (just mixing it with sparkling water), you'll probably want to use more, in the 5-7 dash range. At the end of the day, bitters are basically liquid seasoning, and you should use more or less depending on your personal preferences.

Do your bitters contain any allergens?
With the exception of our Fig & Walnut Bitters, our products contain none of the major allergens as identified by the FDA: milk, eggs, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, or soybean.
Are your bitters vegan? Cruelty-free?
Our products are all 100% vegan, and unless you count our children (who love their "fancy water" with bitters), they're never tested on animals.
Are your bitters gluten-free?
Our cocktail bitters are all 100% gluten-free.
